Rippon Lea Estate is one of the most magnificent gardens in the city of Melbourne. This is the last garden in the entire Australian continent that was a privately owned estate in the nineteenth century. The address to this romantic destination is 192 Hotham Street, Elsternwick.

Labassa is a mansion which was built during the 1800s and finally completed in 1890. It is styled after the French Renaissance type of architecture. Therefore it is obvious that Labassa is very glamorously decorated with intricate interiors as well. This is located at 2 Manor Grove in Caulfield.

Schwerkolt Cottage is found alongside the Mullum Mullum Creek, in Deep Creek Road, Mitcham. It is a beautifully crafted stone cottage which is surrounded by beautiful and lush gardens.

The Melbourne Town Hall is another essential stop on your itinerary if you like historical sights and buildings. This was erected in the nineteenth century and has an extremely eventful political, social and cultural significance that lurks behind the façade. The address is 190 Swanston Street, in case you plan to make the Melbourne Town Hall a part of your tour through the city.

Another lovely sight awaits you at La Trobe’s Cottage. This is a pre-constructed dwelling that traveled with the very first Lieutenant Governor of Australia who was called Charles La Trobe when he came to the continent in 1839. The best part about La Trobe’s Cottage is that it still retains part of the original interior décor from that time.

The Flinders Street Station is another viable option for a visit. It is the central nerve point of the train system of Melbourne with all trains either having their destination or source station at this point. It has a beautiful dome and clocks which have a historical significance as well. Flinders Street Station is located on Flinders Street and St. Kilda Road.

Manchester Unity Building is a building that is styled after the Gothic style of architecture and was erected in the 1930s. At one point of time it was one of the tallest buildings in the city. Contrary to popular misconceptions, shopping malls are not a product of the ultra modern 21^st century. Melbourne’s oldest shopping mall dates back to 1870. This one is called the Royal Arcade and makes for a very elegant sight indeed.
